Winter Newsletter 2011/12

 

 This has proved an exciting year for me as I have completed two new courses; 5 Element Reiki with Taggart King, Director of Reiki Evolution (see the website - http://www.reiki-evolution.co.uk ).

The last weekend of September found me in the Cotswolds resitting my Shinpiden (Level 3, or Master) course with Frans Stiene co-founder of the International School of Reiki (http://uk.ihreiki.com). He (along with his wife, Bronwen) are the authors of 'The Reiki Sourcebook' and 'The Japanese Art of Reiki', so it was a real privilege to become a Shinpiden graduate with the International House of Reiki.

I have an article posted on their blog page entitled 'Reiki Practice the Washing up Liquid Way',  Reiki is a great teacher and its simplicity means to me that I can just get on with the practice and let it sink deeper and deeper within, rather than getting lost in lots of books trying to figure it out with my mind/ego. Then, I had the chance to re-sit my Shinpiden with Frans. As with most things it happened at just the right time. May I thank everyone who generously supported me in my fundraising. Uganda (2010) was the most amazing experience - the people so warm and welcoming and extremely hardworking. We got the teachers accommodation built up to roof level without any mechanical aids or electricity, just lots of willing hands and our hard labour! There are now 5 teachers living there and pupil numbers have increased from just over 100 to over 400, we will be taking out more teaching resources for the school next visit. 

In August 2012 the final team from Huntington will go out to finish the Health Centre that was started in 2011, to stock it, build accommodation for 2 resident nurses and help in whatever Food for the Hungry want us to do. The charity are leaving the village in 2013, hopefully with enough resources for them to be independent.
